DSD April 5, 2018: "Another Night" - Hot Dreams

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
If you enjoy the TGF Playlists, it would help us out a lot if you could share them with folks, as with the new algorithms on Facebook and Instagram, TGF is having to fight harder for traffic, so sharing the songs (articles) or lists is something you could do that can really make a difference!

Another Night - Hot Dreams

London-based indie alt-rock group Hot Dreams is our featured artist today, with their single "Another Night" really catching my attention.

Check it out below:

I am such a sucker for soundscape alt-rock, and that is exactly what Hot Dreams delivered in "Another Night": this is a rich, cinematic track that seems to just pour out of your speakers and demands to be turned up to just fill whatever space you are in.
I love that.
I love that this is a song that, when I have my headphones on, I just feel myself sinking into the song in a way that is so hard to describe, and also incredibly difficult to achieve, because it would have been so easy for Hot Dreams to overproduce the track, or add one-too-many instrumental, or vocal layers an over-complicate the track, but "Another Night" is excellently balanced, and beautifully produced.

I can't really say much else, to be honest, I really just want you to take a few minutes, and let "Another Night" wash over you, as I can only hope that you will feel the same way that I do, and that is a helluva lot better than I did before I listened to it.

If this is your first introduction to Hot Dreams, and you're looking for more, be sure to check out their earlier singles "Will You Dive" and "Plungepool", or if you're lucky enough to be in the London (UK) area, they are headlining a show in May (which I feel would be a pretty damn good time too).

The March 2018 DSD Apple Music Playlist and the March 2018 DSD Spotify Playlist are now available! Once again, we are missing a few of tracks this month, those being "Dungeons" - Malik,  "EPIPHANY" by Pizzo Da LP, and "One Night in Tokyo" - The New Division (though this is due to the fact that the new album does not drop until the end of May).
Even though there are a few gaps that made constructing the list a bit tricky, I think it turned out pretty well and  I hope you will check it out and share it with folks!

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
