DSD November 14, 2017: "Rabbits" - Callum Pitt

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Rabbits - Callum Pitt

Indie folk singer/songwriter Callum Pitt's most recent single, "Rabbits" is our song of the day today here on the Daily Song Drop, and I have to say, that there's just something about this track that seems to fit a chilly, Canadian November so well.

Check out the song below:

The first thing that you are going to notice when listening to "Rabbits" (and indeed, all of Callum Pitt's releases so far) is that he has an excellently balanced, beautifully lush sound--the production on his work is excellent. "Rabbits' unfurls itself over it's 4+ minutes, taking the listener on an endearing journey filled with warm tones, and a surprising amount of depth. This is definitely one of those tracks that I feel you really need to listen to a few times to really appreciate all of the moving parts, particularly the shifting vocals.
"Rabbits" is one of those "warm sweater on a cold day" sort of songs that I love talking about on here whenever I can find them.

If you enjoy "Rabbits" be sure to check out some of Pitt's other work, including another favourite of mine, the dreamy "You'd Better Sell It While You Can".

Y'all aren't going to believe this...but for what feels like the first time ever: both the October 2017 Apple Music Playlist and the October '17 Spotify Playlist have every track we talked about on them.
That also, for some reason, meant that it was a list that took a little time for me to get together, but once I got the first few songs figured out (always tricky trying to nail down how to start) everything seemed to click right into place.

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
