DSD February 17, 2017: "I Should've Never Told You" - horder
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
"I Should've Never Told You" - horder
I don't share a lot of indie hip hop on DSD/Tuesday Tunes (as I am not super knowledgeable on that scene), however, when I come across something like Montreal based producer horder's "I Should've Never Told You", I just can't help myself. Musically this track has a fascinating, Mos Def/Yasiin Bey feel to it, while lyrically the balance between the raw, emotional verses by horder (about a relationship "with the right person at the wrong time"), and the shoegaze/alt-rock choruses is quite special. You can really feel "I Should've Never Told You", and that does not change from the first listen to the tenth.
Check it out below
(oh and there are explicit lyrics, if you are one to be concerned about such things):
Honestly, I hope that I get to hear more from horder, and I hope you get to as well....as I feel like this is one of those tracks that I am never going to be able to put on a playlist, due to how hard it was to track down to even put in here for you guys to listen to.
Here is the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist, and I can assure you it is worth it; it's a chill playlist, but it has a really good energy to it (and we're only missing a couple of tracks from those two months, which ain't too bad).
If you're interested, there is also an Apple Music Playlist for the Top 20 Songs of 2016
There also happen to be ALL the old "Tuesday Tunes" monthly lists, like the one for November 2016! This one is only missing a couple of tracks so it's a fairly full, and fun list!
Remember, if you want me to put these playlists on other services (like Spotify), let me know on Twitter (I've linked it below)
If you're looking for more Tuesday Tunes, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the playlists for:
There are other (earlier) playlists available for you if you check older "Tuesday Tunes" articles, or search on Apple Music itself.
See you again next week!
