DSD February 21, 2017: "Not a Problem" - Matt Reagan
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Not a Problem - Matt Reagan
San Francisco based singer/songwriter Matt Reagan (formerly the guitarist for the band 2AM Club) has been creating some really great psychedelia-tinged indie alt rock, and his latest single, "Not a Problem" is a guitar-infused trip down a memory lane that I don't have. Fans of Tame Impala, or who love Sloan but never felt they went late-1960s enough are really going to dig "Not A Problem"; one of those tracks that I love talking about on TGF that takes old school song construction/elements, and infuses a modern twist on them to create a fresh sound. Reagan's vocals ripple across a Woodstock style rhythm, all fuzzy and warm, with some really excellent rock guitar.
Have a listen below:
I'm damn impressed with what Matt Reagan is doing; "Not a Problem" wasn't even originally going to be the DSD song, I was originally going to grab something off of his (equally as good) EP Compilation no.1, but settled on "Not a Problem" because I just love that guitar--particularly the mini-solo in the middle of the track.
If you enjoy this song though, I do think you are going to enjoy the rest of his releases, I particularly like "Moment", as well as the various rock sounds he tries out on Compilation no.1.
You should also give the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist a listen!
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.
