DSD March 10, 2017: "My Type" - Jen Miller
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
My Type - Jen Miller
Based in Nashville, Jen Miller is an indie singer/songwriter who has a fascinating sound--unique in that it mixes and mashes genres like crazy, yet is always brought together by Miller's wonderful vocals. That is definitely on display in her latest single "My Type", which highlights a catchy-as-hell soul feel in the vocals, with an electronic backing that takes R&B (and even the odd gospel) flares.
Have a listen below:
Honestly, "My Type" is just one of those tracks that the first time I heard it, I stopped what I was doing and said "whoa." It feels honest, it feels exciting, and this song (to me) is one that is crying out to be heard in a film/series at some point soon, and I know that I will be keeping a close eye out for when her next single appears.
You may also recognize Miller from her song "Bullshit" (which is quite wonderful) which is also the theme song from "Uninterrupted", a podcast from Women's Health.
The DSD Playlist - Feb 17 is ready, and it's pretty damn great (if I do say so myself...which...I...will).
Hope you enjoy it too!
Here is the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist; it's a chill playlist, but it has a really good energy to it (and we're only missing a couple of tracks from those two months, which ain't too bad).
If you're interested, there is also an Apple Music Playlist for the Top 20 Songs of 2016
There also happen to be ALL the old "Tuesday Tunes" monthly lists, like the one for November 2016! This one is only missing a couple of tracks so it's a fairly full, and fun list!
Remember, if you want me to put these playlists on other services (like Spotify), let me know on Twitter (I've linked it below)
If you're looking for more great music, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the playlists for:
There are other (earlier) playlists available for you if you check older "Tuesday Tunes" articles, or search on Apple Music itself.
See you again next week!

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
