DSD March 23, 2017: "Wolves Or Foxes" - Edwin Raphael
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Wolves Or Foxes - Edwin Raphael
Montreal indie singer/songwriter Edwin Raphael recently released his second EP Cold Nights, and I have to say I am quite taken by "Wolves or Foxes". It's use of both a mellow electric guitar, and an acoustic simultaneously to serve as the primary backdrop for for Raphael's vocals is not only clever, but those little flourishes of electric come to be a hook in themselves.
Give "Wolves Or Foxes" a listen below:
By the second half of "Wolves Or Foxes" when the drums really begin to assert themselves (and provide the track with some dynamism), the song has probably already wormed it's way into your head, thanks in large part to Raphael's classic "sitting under a tree with a guitar and singing with friends" vocals. The song is intimate, and feels like a track that should be playing in your favourite indie coffee shop as you watch the world go by.
If you enjoy "Wolves Or Foxes", do make sure you check out the rest of Cold Nights, or try and catch Raphael this Saturday at Théâtre St-James in Montreal.
Well, I tried my best (...like I actually have control over anything when it comes to Apple Music), and even though we are missing a couple of tracks, the DSD Playlist - Feb 17 is out now, and it's pretty damn great.
Hope you enjoy it too!
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
