DSD April 13, 2017: "Big Fat Mouth" - Arlie
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Big Fat Mouth - Arlie
A retro-summer vibe is really what drew me to "Big Fat Mouth", the debut single of Nashville indie pop band Arlie. It both reminded me of really old vinyl albums at my grandparents place, and a bit of Foster the People, the pairing of which brought a smile to my face for sure.
Give "Big Fat Mouth" a listen below:
I really like the hazy, jangled sound of "Big Fat Mouth"--there's something so bright feeling about it that just makes me want to throw on a pair of Ray Bans and sit on my balcony. This is one of those tracks that seems to get better with every listen, and I would find it hard to believe if you don't find yourself bobbing along with it (or at the very least, casting an eye toward summer).
Sometimes, you just need some peppy, retro-tinged fun on a playlist....I think at least.
Oh so close to a complete list for the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , but that's alright...there is over 80 minutes of indie awesomeness available for you right now....not to mention...in case you somehow missed it, here is last months DSD Playlist - Feb 17
Plus, if you're interested, there is also an Apple Music Playlist for the Top 20 Songs of 2016, where I put together my favourite tracks from last year.
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.
