DSD May 26, 2017: "It's Your LIfe" - The Spacesuit Junkies

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

It's Your Life - The Spacesuit Junkies

I don't seem to talk about EDM as much as I used to (which is strange, considering I'm coming at this from my DJ days), but I do want to try and include some when I can, like this "urban house" duo working out of Atlanta, with their song "It's Your Life" off of their EP Luv & Bass.

Check out the song below:

The term "urban house" is a good call, as The Spacesuit Junkies are taking elements from R&B/Hip-hop (the lyrics and vocal style specifically), and melding them with more of a pop-house EDM feel. In "It's Your Life" these elements blend together into a really good, chill track that feels like it would both work in a club (as a slower song), or just hanging out. I think this is one of those songs that shines thanks to it's versatility for a set--I know (if I were still spinning) this would definitely make it's way into my rotation.

"It's Your Life" is one of those songs that I seem to like talking to you about, that just makes me feel mellow, and happy...

You may recognize "Buzzin'" by The Spacesuit Junkies (also off of Luv & Bass), as it has been getting legs in the indie house community, and stretching a bit beyond...honestly though, if you like "It's Your Life", check out Luv & Bass for more of the Junkies' "urban house" as they maintain a good vibe throughout.

The DSD Playlist - Apr 17 is now available! We are sadly missing one song from the last month (again), but I'm pretty happy with how this one all came together!

ICYMI (somehow) here is the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

Remember, if you want me to put these playlists on other services (like Spotify), let me know on Twitter (I've linked it below)

If you're looking for more great music, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the playlists for:

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
