DSD May 30, 2017: "Talk to Trees" - Cajsa Siik
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Talk to Trees - Cajsa Siik
Sweden's Cajsa Siik is (or already has, depending on where you live) releasing her sophomore album DOMINO and the lead single "Talk to Trees" is just awesome.
Check "Talk to Trees" out below:
"Talk to Trees" is dreamy, and yet grounded at the same time, thanks in large part to the combination of Siik's sublime pop vocals, and an earthy guitar riff (that reminds me a lot of a sort of mellow college-rock). This, combined with a bit of piano and percussion all comes together to make one hell of an indie pop song.
I know I already (sort of) pointed it out, but I think it bears mentioning again that Siik has a great voice, and the production of this, and indeed all of her previous releases are produced superbly to serve and emphasize her vocals. If you're looking for a lesser-known (in North America) pop singer, whose music instantly gives your playlists, parties, or roadtrips a cooler edge, look no further than Cajsa Siik.
Be sure to check out her first album Contra as well, if you enjoyed "Talk to Trees", and hopefully DOMINO will be widely available at the end of this week.
The DSD Playlist - Apr 17 is now available! We are sadly missing one song from the last month (again), but I'm pretty happy with how this one all came together!
ICYMI (somehow) here is the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!
See you again tomorrow (with probably another completely different sounding song, so I can hate myself come Playlist time...)
