DSD June 13, 2017: "Give Me A Moment" - Nina Grae
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Give Me A Moment - Nina Grae
San Francisco based indie singer/songwriter Nina Grae's latest single "Give Me A Moment" is the daily song drop song of the day today, because it hits on so many of the things that long-time readers know I really appreciate in R&B/Soul tracks (meaning: expect a great use of piano).
Check out "Give Me A Moment" below:
I really like how Grae has taken a few, chill EDM cues in "Give Me A Moment" to give the track a different feel than a lot of indie R&B/Soul--the ambient background never gets in the way of her wonderful voice though, which is key as Grae's vocals are beautiful. To that end, I feel like this track is very well produced, as the subtle little shifts behind the vocals give the song much more dynamism, but let the best part (Grae) shine.
Plus, like I always say, I am a sucker for any indie singer/songwriter who uses a piano well in their songs, and "Give Me A Moment" relies heavily on the piano for atmosphere.
Honestly, this is one of those songs that as soon as I heard it, I knew it had to be on DSD, and I look forward to hearing more from Nina Grae (and probably sharing it with y'all here), especially if she continues to dabble in a sound that mixes between soul and ambient/electro.
Here's the May 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (and I'll hopefully be able to add it in later)! It's wonderful, as always, but that should be assumed when I'm making playlists of nothing but songs I enjoy...
Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
