DSD July 21, 2017: "Miss Me Too" - Fred Page

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Miss Me Too - Fred Page

London based singer/songwriter Fred Page's latest single "Miss Me Too" is a song that feels familiar (but, as it was released earlier this month, clearly should not...).

Check out the track below:

I cannot quite put my finger on what it is when it comes to why "Miss Me Too" feels so familiar; I think it's the fact that it takes some of that mid-to-late 1990s alternative sound, and then updates it with a more modern scale--this is one of those indie songs that feels like it is tailor-made for a film soundtrack.
Listen to "Miss Me Too" again (if you are already done it), close your eyes, and tell me that you don't get a sense of this being from a rom-com, or like, comedy film in the part of the film where characters are "thinking about things".
Right?

I don't want you to think that that is a bad thing by any means, Page has created a song in "Miss Me Too" that is perfectly produced, features his vocals by letting them pop out of the retro-feeling music behind them, and the song subtly adds little hints of strings, and harmony to keep it dynamic, while never over-complicated the sound. It's an indie alt singer/songwriter delivering a complete song in every sense of the word.

If you dig this, I definitely recommend checking out some of his other work, especially "Another Last Time", which, I feel I must have had as a note for DSD in the past, but can't seem to find (it's also damn good).

Here's the June 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (as is tradition)! This months list was actually one of the harder ones for me to put together into something that feels (at least sort of) cohesive...I'm not sure why, but I am happy with the way it turned out in the end!

ICYMI (somehow) here are the May 2017 DSD Playlist DSD Playlist - Apr 17DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
