DSD August 18, 2017: "Bloodshot" - Albin Lee Meldau
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Bloodshot - Albin Lee Meldau
Swedish Singer/Songwriter Albin Lee Meldau returns to the Daily Song Drop today (first featuring back in May 2016) with the title song off of his new EP Bloodshot.
Check out "Bloodshot" below:
Once again, Meldau has delivered a soulful, emotional song with "Bloodshot" that features not only has excellent vocals, but builds into something rather cinematic in scope. This is a song that swept into my head and burrowed its' way in, becoming a regular feature of any late-night playlists I am putting together. There's an effortless chic to "Bloodshot"; I don't know if it's thanks to the classic-soul feeling vocals, the addition of horns, or just the whole, James Bond theme-style package, but "Bloodshot" is just one of those songs that I knew was going to be on the Daily Song Drop as soon as I heard it.
If you dig "Bloodshot" do check out the rest of the Bloodshot EP, for even more, moving, soulful tracks, or even wander back to some of his earlier EPs for even more--this is an artist who has never put a wrong foot forward as he has developed his sound, and lounge/soul fans really owe it to themselves to dive in.
Here's the July 2017 DSD Playlist! We're missing a few tracks this month, which is sad for the Apple Music folks, but you've still got a really solid list this month (if I do say so myself, which I do...*cough*)
