DSD August 31, 2017: "Green" - SKIES
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Green - SKIES
This UK indie rock duo made their first appearance here on TGF back in July 2016, and today SKIES returns with their latest single "Green".
Check it out below:
As is tradition with SKIES, the vocals are fantastic and they continue to serve to tie the song, in all of its' genre-blending glory together. When "Green" starts, it feels a lot like an indie rock pop track with a real modern flare, and that theme carries through this track a great deal more than in "Hold On" (the track from last year), but it shifts tempo and tone a couple of times, preventing the song from dragging into the ordinary.
Oh, and that chorus is going to get stuck in your head, and stick there...believe me.
I am consistently impressed by what these two are producing, and they have really carved out an unique sound that I really hope will start breaking out in a big way, as I really want to hear a lot more from these two.
Here's the July 2017 DSD Playlist! We're missing a few tracks this month, which is sad for the Apple Music folks, but you've still got a really solid list this month (if I do say so myself, which I do...*cough*)
We are also now on Spotify! Here is the link to the July '17 Spotify List (which features 1 more track than the Apple Music list).
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop (and yes, the August Playlist will be there too!)

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig
