DSD September 15, 2017: "Cracks Between" - Ten Tonnes

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Cracks Between - Ten Tonnes

Figured it had been a while since we had talked about an indie alt-rock song here on the Daily Song Drop, so I thought it would be nice to wrap the week up with "Cracks Between", the latest single from Ten Tonnes.

Check the song out below:

Main Ad Block:

"Cracks Between" is all about the balance between the vocals and the electric guitar--this is one of those songs that expertly uses changes of pace (or in this case, stops and starts) to great effect in creating a memorable rock song. I really appreciate the journey of "Cracks Between" musically, as Ten Tonnes really squeezes everything he can get out of each second, and by the end you've ended up with a addictive guitar hook, great vocals, and percussion holding it all together.

If this is your first introduction to Ten Tonnes, there are a couple other singles for you to check out (and singles in the traditional sense, of being mini-releases of 3 tracks, an A and a couple B-sides), with "Born To Lose" and "Lucy"--I particularly like that little bit of a gritty snarl in "Lucy" myself, but you can't really go wrong with Ten Tonnes if you're looking for a bit of Brit Indie alt-rock.

This month we are only missing one (1) track, from AL-X the Great, as it is not available...anywhere other than where I put it in here, but it is tradition that we are missing something every month.

ICYMI (somehow) here are the July 2017 DSD PlaylistJune 2017 DSD Playlist, May 2017 DSD Playlist DSD Playlist - Apr 17DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

We are also now on Spotify! Here is the link to the August '17 Spotify List OR, here's the whole playlist for the month right here:

Not to mention the fact that we totally also have a June '17 Spotify List & a July '17 Spotify List

If you're looking for me to add these lists somewhere beyond Apple Music and Spotify (or you want some of the old lists on Spotify), you're going to have to convince me (hard) by chatting with me here, or on Twitter

If you're looking for more great music, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the Apple Music playlists for:

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
