DSD September 28, 2017: "Weapon of War" - CAT (Cat Pierce)
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Weapon of War - CAT (Cat Pierce)
CAT (Cat Pierce, perhaps best known for her work in the band The Pierces) has broken out to do some solo work, and "Weapon of War" is an absolutely beautiful pop song; check it out below:
CAT has a great voice for (slightly) melancholic pop; "Weapon of War" gives me some serious Lana Del Rey vibes, and that is something that makes me super happy. Lyrically the track is wonderfully crafted, and it really helps to accentuate not only CAT's voice, but her ability to tell a story, backed up with some great percussion, piano, and guitar, all with a dreamy haze overtop of it to give it a real electro-pop sheen.
"Weapon of War" is a beautifully introspective track which makes me want to put on a sweater and watch rain patter against a window (preferably with tea, and quiet so I can get my own introspection on...).
The August 2017 DSD Playlist is here! This month we are only missing one (1) track, from AL-X the Great, as it is not available...anywhere other than where I put it in here, but it is tradition that we are missing something every month. Also, here is the link to the August '17 Spotify List because....we are on Spotify!
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop and the September Playlist!
