DSD September 29, 2017: "Merry Go Round" - Tors

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Merry Go Round - Tors

Wrapping up this month of the Daily Song Drop is a beautiful folk song by London-based Tors called "Merry Go Round".

Check it out below:

"Merry Go Round" has all the hallmarks of a great folk song: the vocals/harmonies are perfectly balanced, the lyrics are very well put together (and just the right kind of catchy)--I was literally singing along to this track before I had gotten through my first listen-- and the musical production to back the lads up is not only well played, but it swells and falls in such a way that it gives the track a bite more of a dynamic feeling than a lot of indie folk manages. I like the fact that "Merry Go Round" feels like a swirl of a song, and that energy gives it a lot of charm.

If you're looking for a softer, more melancholy folk track, do also give "Now We Fall" a listen as well, as it is another example of how well these four play together, and a deeper look into their songwriting; I'll be keeping an eye out to see what they release next for sure, as autumn is a great time to enjoy new folk.

The September 2017 Apple Music Playlist and September 2017 Spotify Playlist are ready! As is tradition, the lists are missing a track ("To Do" (Be Yourself) by LEMZI), but I suppose that's just something that you're going to be used to be now considering the way this always seems to go.

You can also, as always, just listen to the Spotify list right here:

ICYMI (somehow) here are the August 2017 DSD Playlist July 2017 DSD PlaylistJune 2017 DSD Playlist, May 2017 DSD Playlist DSD Playlist - Apr 17DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!

Not to mention the fact that we totally also have a June '17 Spotify List, a July '17 Spotify List & an August '17 Spotify List

If you're looking for me to add these lists somewhere beyond Apple Music and Spotify (or you want some of the old lists on Spotify), you're going to have to convince me (hard) by chatting with me here, or on Twitter

If you're looking for more great music, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the Apple Music playlists for:

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
