DSD January 24, 2018: "Home (feat. Lylli)" - Nemea
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!
Home (feat. Lylli) - Nemea
I'm actually a little late getting "Home (feat. Lylli)" from Austrian DJ/Producer Nemea onto the Daily Song Drop because...I suck? I had this song in my notes to feature a while ago, and I just came across the track again today and went "Oh...right....damn it", because it has been a go-to chill electronic track for me for a few months now, yet I apparently never thought about it when it came up on a personal playlist....
Anyway, let's not dwell on that, and let's get to you enjoying this dope track; check out "Home" below:
First thing you are going to notice is that Lylli's vocals on "Home" are absolutely beautiful, and at the same time, help to contribute to such an amazingly mellow vibe that I would be amazed if this is not a track that relaxes you every time you hear it. While a lot of it is in the vocals, that is not to say that Nemea's very skillful production, and balancing snyth with more organic percussion layers aren't fantastic as well- "Home" is definitely a complete package, with each part perfectly working with the others to create a must-have mellow electronic track.
I have found "Home" to be an excellent track to sit down somewhere outside, and just let the world slow down a little bit...and I hope you will give it a try in that capacity.
If this is your first introduction to Nemea, then be sure to check out the Tides EP, which not only features "Home" but other great, mellow electronic tracks like "Back To Me (feat. Lylli)", or check out the Tides EP Remixes if you are looking for a change of pace--it's all good.
For the first time ever on theguysfrom.com, here is the December Apple Music Playlist, and the December '17 Spotify Playlist! I decided that, rather than making myself crazy with a hybrid list between the two months (and thanks to the fact that I did a feature-full month) I would put this one together, which just means that the January playlist will be a tad shorter than most thanks to the TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 (with the in countdown order Apple Music TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 as Well as the Spotify TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 playlists here)
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
