DSD February 13, 2017: "Warm Fire Lightning" - Satellite Mode
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Warm Fire Lightning - Satellite Mode
This week we are starting the "Daily Song Drop" off with a little bit of indie electro-pop from New York duo Satellite Mode and their song "Warm Fire Lightning" which they released late last year. "Warm Fire Lightning" has an addictive synth loop, a layer of rock-like guitar, and some incredible vocals; Satellite Mode uses a combination of perfectly layered harmonies (sometimes looped, sometimes not), and some raw, emotional...Adele/Florence Welch style main vocals that elevates "Lightning" about a lot of the electro-pop coming out today.
Take a listen below:
This is one of those tracks that once I come across it, ends up being on repeat for days on end (I can promise you, I have been listening to "Warm Fire Lightning" repeatedly all this past weekend). Satellite Mode has also recently released a new single, "Secrets", which has more of a chill, electro-pop vibe, which (if you dug "White Fire Lightning") I definitely recommend you check out.
As you (hopefully) know by now, I always put together all of the songs we talk about on DSD (and formerly on "Tuesday Tunes") into a monthly playlist, with the latest one, the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist, available now!
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
