DSD February 14, 2017: "SANDMAN" - Taméca Jones
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
SANDMAN - Taméca Jones
I don't get to share a lot of indie R&B, or as Austin based artist Taméca Jones calls her music: "soul pop" very often, but I feel like we all need to have a little bit of "SANDMAN" in our day today. Honestly, soul pop is the best way to describe "SANDMAN": it's beautiful, it features some excellent blues guitar AND an organ, but at the end of the day, it is all about Jones' amazing vocals.
She has an absolutely awesome voice...
I honestly hope that we get to hear a lot more from Taméca Jones over the coming years; she has been working in and around Texas for the better part of a decade, and this past September released Naked, which is, top to bottom, fantastic. Obviously I'm particularly fond of "SANDMAN", but you really cannot go wrong with any track off of her EP (Elton John fans should also be hearing her wonderfully silky cover of "Bennie and the Jets").
As you (hopefully) know by now, I always put together all of the songs we talk about on DSD (and formerly on "Tuesday Tunes") into a monthly playlist, with the latest one, the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist, available now!
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.
Oh, and I guess if you're really into Chaucer: Happy Feast of St. Valentines.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
