DSD March 1, 2017: "Waste of Time" - Anwai
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Waste of Time - Anwai
Swedish indie trip-pop duo Anwai only seem to reappear once a year, but whenever they do, it's with an absolutely wonderful track, like "Waste of Time" (which dropped over 8 months ago). This is an addictive piece of electro-pop: hazy, rippling guitars and synth, percussion that never insists on being more than driving the atmosphere, and pitch perfect harmonies that just float on top of everything.
Give it a listen below:
Honestly, "Waste of Time" is one of those songs that I'm sad I did not hear last year, because I'm pretty sure that it would've cracked my Top 20: every time I listen to it, I hear something else (and I haven't even pulled out my studio-headphones yet...). Case in point, I'm right now more obsessed with the guitar, but a few days ago, it was learning the lyrics so I could sing along....
Check out their other track, "Move Along" as well, which has a bit more on a folk vibe folded into the electro than "Waste of Time", and gives you a bit more anwai to enjoy...as...if trends continue...we are not going to hear from these two until sometime this summer...
You should also give the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist a listen! The February Playlist will be available this coming Friday, with (hopefully) all of the DSD tracks!
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
