DSD March 17, 2017: "Take the Seasons" - Motion Coaster

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Taking the Seasons - Motion Coaster

Instead of doing something specifically for St. Patrick's Day, primarily because I don't seem to have any indie artists from Ireland kicking around in my notes (my twitter is below, email top right corner...), I thought I would go with a song today that I would've been so damn happy to hear if I was out tonight, especially live

"Taking the Seasons" by Motion Coaster is an alt-pop rock song which is completely different than pretty much everything else I have ever talked about on here; not only is it super catchy, and danceable, but it's combination of big-band/ska/punk elements into a pop rock song makes them musically unique, makes them stand out like crazy, and sound like a helluva good night wrapped up in one song.

"Take the Seasons" feels E-Street Band, Reel Big Fish, and radio-ready indie pop rock, and mashes it all-together into something that I honestly cannot stop bopping along to. There are so many elements in this track, and they all work together absolutely perfectly, and...honestly, if you don't end up jiving along with the bassline, bobbing to the horns, or trying to keep up with the fun vocal range on display in "Take the Seasons"....I'm not 100% sure why you read the Daily Song Drop...

I really, really hope that there is an album coming from Motion Coaster...because...I want more of them in my days...(fully acknowledging that their debut EP Ocean Toaster is a good time, It just sadly does not have "Take the Seasons" on it)

The DSD Playlist - Feb 17 is ready, and it's pretty damn great (if I do say so myself...which...I...will).
Hope you enjoy it too!

Here is the Dec 16/Jan 17 Playlist; it's a chill playlist, but it has a really good energy to it (and we're only missing a couple of tracks from those two months, which ain't too bad).

If you're interested, there is also an  Apple Music Playlist for the Top 20 Songs of 2016

There also happen to be  ALL the old "Tuesday Tunes" monthly lists, like the one for November 2016! This one is only missing a couple of tracks so it's a fairly full, and fun list!

Remember, if you want me to put these playlists on other services (like Spotify), let me know on Twitter (I've linked it below)

If you're looking for more great music, are late to the party, or just want more theguysfrom.com in your day, here are the playlists for:

 October 2016
 September 2016

August 2016
July 2016

June 2016

May 2016
April 2016

March 2016

There are other (earlier) playlists available for you if you check older "Tuesday Tunes" articles, or search on Apple Music itself.

See you again next week!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
