DSD April 19, 2017: "Skream" - Franklin
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Skream - Franklin
There is so much awesome indie rock and alt-rock coming out of the UK the past few years...it's actually a little ridiculous.
Case in point, Franklin, a four-piece indie alt-rock group have been releasing some really enjoyable music, like "Skream"; check out the official video below:
"Skream" is a great mid-to-upper mid tempo rock song with a swirling guitar that you can just get lost swaying to, and then the vocals and percussion pull you back into the track. Honestly, "Skream" is one of those tracks that seems to get better every time I hear it, it is very well layered and produced (without being over-produced, letting all of the pieces have their own moment to shine), lyrically it's very crowd-pleasing rock (and that is not meant as a bad thing), and that guitar.
Man, I love the guitar.
Franklin, is one of those bands that I wish I was closer to as I feel like seeing a live show of theirs would be an excellent time (and if you are in the UK, and have a chance to catch them, definitely let me know what you thought).
Oh so close to a complete list for the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , but that's alright...there is over 80 minutes of indie awesomeness available for you right now....not to mention...in case you somehow missed it, here is last months DSD Playlist - Feb 17
Plus, if you're interested, there is also an Apple Music Playlist for the Top 20 Songs of 2016, where I put together my favourite tracks from last year.
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
