DSD May 17, 2017: "This Ain't a Dream" - Idolising Nova
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
This Ain't a Dream - Idolising Nova
Three-piece indie pop band Idolising Nova is yet another example of the fun music that has been coming out of the indie scene in the UK. Their second release, "This Ain't a Dream" is catchy-as-hell, and...honestly hard to stop humming along to (I was singing along at about my second listen...)
Check out "This Ain't a Dream" below:
Vocalist Jack Fulton Smith really stands out in the chorus'; hopping between the two different registers is clever, as it gives "This Ain't a Dream" more dynamism. As with a lot of my favourite indie pop tracks, Idolising Nova uses a hint of piano to add just that something extra to the very well balanced percussion and guitar, plus they add just enough of a hazy feel to the track to give it a sheen of urban, late-night cool.
Idolising Nova are currently playing live around the UK, and I hope that one of my readers will have a chance to see them, and let me know how they are live, as "This Ain't a Dream" defintely feels like it would be great rolling through a club space.
The DSD Playlist - Apr 17 is now available! We are sadly missing one song from the last month (again), but I'm pretty happy with how this one all came together!
ICYMI (somehow) here is the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , and there's also one kicking around for DSD Playlist - Feb 17 too!
See you again tomorrow (with probably another completely different sounding song, so I can hate myself come Playlist time...)

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
