DSD June 22, 2017: "Cyber Grinding" - JahLike

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Cyber Grinding by JahLike

I'm always a big fan of chill hip-hop tracks with a great bass line when it comes to my lazy summer days, and JahLike's "Cyber Grinding" (produced by Nabu) fits the bill perfectly.

Check the track out below:

"Cyber Grinding" is a lazy, summer afternoon of a song: never over-staying its' welcome, the track keeps its' kicked-back tempo throughout, and just sort of billows out of your speakers, with JahLike's chill lyrics/vocals rolling along on top of a solid, well produced bass-heavy track. I really like the way Nabu layered "Cyber Grinding" to give it it's overall feel, while letting JahLike mellow vibe shine.

JahLike has a couple of other singles for you to check out as well, with another favourite of mine being "Mental", and if you are lucky enough to be in the DC area, and you are looking for something to do on the 23rd, JahLike (and a bunch of other artists) will be appearing at the Smith Public Trust for 'A Public Joint'.

Here's the May 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (and I'll hopefully be able to add it in later)! It's wonderful, as always, but that should be assumed when I'm making playlists of nothing but songs I enjoy...

Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
