Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Talk Dirty - Paul Cook & The Chronicles
London based singer/songwriter Paul Cook's solo project, Paul Cook & The Chronicles (a great name, by the way) released its latest EP Beck & Call at the end of April, and the first track, "Talk Dirty" is all kinds of chill awesomeness.
Check it out below:
Largely relying on Cook's vocals, and a mellow acoustic guitar, "Talk Dirty" is one of those songs that as it unfolds by layering in more sound (without ever fundamentally changing the vibe), you just feel start feeling good. This is a perfect "sitting in the sunshine on a lazy day" song, thanks in large part to the tracks ability to shift sound, without over-taxing itself: "Talk Dirty" feels like it could add another 5 instruments and still maintain it's mellow, summer roots (that's how well produced it is).
There is a lot of Paul Cook & The Chronicles out there, so if "Talk Dirty" (and Beck & Call) are your first introduction to the project, and you're digging this vibe, be sure to dive into the rest of the catalog, there's a pile there to enjoy.
