DSD June 26, 2017: "New Gods" - FROM KID

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

New Gods - FROM KID

Swiss indie pop/folk duo FROM KID released their second album this April with Favorite Storm and the first single (and probably still my favourite track) is "New Gods". Check it out below:

"New Gods" is just the right balance of chill indie pop, with a folk flare to it; the percussion/guitar combination is very well thought out in supporting the laid-back vocals, but as the song continues, it develops into a very full, almost lush sounding track. The sudden introduction of electric guitar is a welcome addition as it allows "New Gods" to never stagnate and fall back on itself musically. FROM KID really has a single here that you can feel the care that is put into the song, and it makes a real difference.

Plus it's great, so that helps too.

If you enjoy "New Gods" and are looking for more mellow indie pop, do check out the rest of Favorite Storm. or take a dive back into their first album You Can Have All the Wonders as well, both have some real standout tracks on them.

Here's the May 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (and I'll hopefully be able to add it in later)! It's wonderful, as always, but that should be assumed when I'm making playlists of nothing but songs I enjoy...

Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
