DSD June 27, 2017: 'Breathe' - Módl
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Breathe - Módl
I've been on a real mellow vibe lately as we are now (officially) into summer, and that definitely continues with this awesome ambient track from Virginia producer Módl.
Check out "Breathe" below:
"Breathe" is easily one of the best Ambient tracks to be released this year; the production (specifically the way Módl has layered all of the separate pieces into a song that...pardon the expression, but lives and breathes) is fantastic, and the song never even edges toward getting stale, with a variety of tempo shifts across its' almost 4 minute length. I also appreciate the fact that "Breathe" doesn't fall into the trap of being/becoming boring--the lyrics are engaging, the split between piano sections, and the snyth enhanced "upbeat" interludes are very well managed, making the song one that tends to need to get stuck on repeat for a while, as it's always over before you are ready for it to be.
Módl is super new on the EDM scene, but is garnering attention fast, so make sure you keep an eye out for what he is up to next; I can imagine a world where one of his songs becomes a crossover smash soon...
Here's the May 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (and I'll hopefully be able to add it in later)! It's wonderful, as always, but that should be assumed when I'm making playlists of nothing but songs I enjoy...
Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!
