DSD June 8, 2017: "Blood Pump" - Ryan Oakes
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Blood Pump - Ryan Oakes
Ryan Oakes is a crazy prolific indie hip hop artist who released his second EP this year just a few days ago called EVOLVE, and "Blood Pump" is a quick, chop-style hype track produced by Djembe Beats which caught my attention right away.
Give the track a listen below:
"Blood Pump" sports a catchy and unique beat, which Oakes proceeds to rip apart, spitting quickly, juxtaposing off of the almost cruising beat to great effect. The track is only 2:30 long, but Oakes packs so much into that short time that you probably won't even notice, including three, seamless tempo shifts. It's easy to see why Ryan Oakes has already garnered over five million hits on his music (plus as of writing this, EVOLVE is charting on iTunes).
Speaking of which, if you dig "Blood Pump", there is a lot that you are going to like on EVOLVE, including my personal favourites "Victory Lap" and "Resurrection", and it honestly seems like Oakes never stops producing music, so you won't have to wait too long before he releases even more...and based on everything else, whatever he is working on is going to be damn good.
Here's the May 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (and I'll hopefully be able to add it in later)! It's wonderful, as always, but that should be assumed when I'm making playlists of nothing but songs I enjoy...
Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
