DSD July 12, 2017: "Bread Alone" - Lorne
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Bread Alone - Lorne
Occasionally in the process of doing the Daily Song Drop I come across a debut single that I just feel the need to share, and that is exactly why today we are going to talk about "Bread Alone" by London-based singer/songwriter Lorne.
Check out the song below:
First of all, the piano and violin combination is absolutely beautiful, and serve as a perfect backdrop to Lorne's wistful vocals. This is just one of those songs that feels perfect for a rainy day, a mug of tea, and staring out the window while this plays softly behind you. "Bread Alone" is very clean, and uncomplicated in it's structure, but that just means that the few parts that Lorne is using in this track stand out together, and join to form one beautiful piece.
There was some talk that Lorne's debut EP Maze would be released in the past month (I've actually been sitting on "Bread Alone" for a little while in anticipation of such), but that did not come to pass. I feel like maybe, if you enjoy "Bread Alone", head on over to Lorne's site(s) and send him some encouragement, as I for one am definitely looking forward to hearing what else he can do.
Well, and I'm nowhere near London, so I cannot just go out and hear him somewhere...sadly...
Here's the June 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (as is tradition)! This months list was actually one of the harder ones for me to put together into something that feels (at least sort of) cohesive...I'm not sure why, but I am happy with the way it turned out in the end!
I've also heard you, and here it is: theguysfrom playlists are now available on Spotify! You can find us by looking for theguysfrom on Spotify, click on this link for the June '17 Spotify List...I will also embed the last months' playlist on every Friday DSD.
Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
