DSD July 26, 2017: "Big Cuz feat. Kwame Katana" - Dubby of Team Loko

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.

Big Cuz (feat. Kwame Katana) - Dubby of Team Loko

Dubby makes his second appearance of DSD today (his first being "Oracle Arena" back in March) with his latest release "Big Cuz" featuring a great guest spot from Kwame Katana.

Check out the video below (and a heads up that the lyrics may be a little NSFW):

Two of Pa's finest teamed up to drop "Big Cuz", another single off of Dubby's FREE project entitled "Fold Out Chair" which will drop on August 2nd on digital platforms. www.dubbyteamloko.com www.teamlokoapparel.com Shooter - @BradleyAtom Producer - @KidZetaBeats @Dubby_TeamLoko @KwameKatana

"Big Cuz" is a mid-tempo track with a bit of roll to it; a surprisingly chill hype song that oozes a confidence of two (criminally) underrated artists have when they just know that what they are dropping is great. The bass-line is smooth, letting both Dubby and Katana change the pace in different ways during their respective verses without getting in the way--the beat is completely balanced (which for two artists at two different tempos? Impressive).
Not only would "Big Cuz" work as an end of night track, but I think for a real hazy, hot day (perhaps, as is tradition for Dubby videos, on a basketball court) "Big Cuz" would fit into your playlist perfectly.

"Big Cuz" is a part of an eight-song project that Dubby is working on called Fold Out Chair which drops in August, so if you are looking for more, keep an eye out for that (or check out his debut album Heart & Havoc (with my jam "Oracle Arena) which he released late last year.

Here's the June 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (as is tradition)! This months list was actually one of the harder ones for me to put together into something that feels (at least sort of) cohesive...I'm not sure why, but I am happy with the way it turned out in the end!
I've also heard you, and here it is: theguysfrom playlists are now available on Spotify! You can find us by looking for theguysfrom on Spotify, click on this link for the June '17 Spotify List...I will also embed the last months' playlist on every Friday DSD.

Come on back tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
