DSD August 24, 2017: "You'll Find" - Dan and Drum
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
You'll Find - Dan and Drum
Los Angeles based Dan and Drum's single "You'll Find" is a little bit hard to describe, as it blends a few different feels together into a really cool pop song.
Check it out below:
"You'll Find" takes elements from pop, island/folk (with a real retro feel), r&b, and even a little bit of a higher concept chillwave-style electronic, and melts it all down together into one hell of a summery, feel-good track. Taking that many layers and blending them together into something this cohesive is not easy, and it really shows that Dan and Drum take a great deal of care in crafting their sound into something that just needs to be listened to. I really appreciate the journey that "You'll Find" takes as well--I thought I had an idea of what the song was on a few different occasions, and kept getting (pleasently) surprised.
If "You'll Find" is your first introduction to Dan and Drum, do make sure that you check out their album Growl Pop from earlier this year for even more genre-melting goodness.
Here's the July 2017 DSD Playlist! We're missing a few tracks this month, which is sad for the Apple Music folks, but you've still got a really solid list this month (if I do say so myself, which I do...*cough*)
We are also now on Spotify! Here is the link to the July '17 Spotify List (which features 1 more track than the Apple Music list).
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
