DSD September 13, 2017: "Plot Twist" - Sigrid
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Plot Twist - Sigrid
Occasionally, I just want a really good, pure-pop song.
Today on the Daily Song Drop, we are going to chat about one of my go-to pop tracks this summer: "Plot Twist" from Norwegian synth-pop artist Sigrid.
Check the official video out below:
"Plot Twist" is a song with such an uplifiting energy, a great deal of happiness in it that it's really hard not to feel better after listening to it. The theme of shaking off a terrible situation/relationship and realizing that you're better off is not new to pop, but Sigrid gives it such a personal feel to it, that every "Shots Fired' becomes something that you just want to yell out with her.
Or...maybe you could use this track the next time you (or a friend) extricate themselves from something that's not good for them....I know I already have.
Top to bottom, "Plot Twist" is one of the best pop tracks of 2017.
Sigrid released her debut EP Don't Kill My Vibe through Island Records back in May, and had the title track chart across Europe (check it out here), and she even performed at Glastonbury this year...honestly, Sigrid is one of those artists who is only going to get bigger, especially as she gets more exposure (over here), and if that means we get more music like "Plot Twist" and the rest of Don't Kill My Vibe, then I am pretty damn happy about that (and will help in my own, DSD way).
The August 2017 DSD Playlist is here! This month we are only missing one (1) track, from AL-X the Great, as it is not available...anywhere other than where I put it in here, but it is tradition that we are missing something every month. Also, here is the link to the August '17 Spotify List because....we are on Spotify!
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig
