DSD September 12, 2017: "My Dear" - Dinachi
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
My Dear - Dinachi
London based singer/songwriter Dinachi released her latest single, "My Dear", late last month, and it is an absolutely perfect song for us all as the nights get a little bit longer, and the weather (in theory) begins to cool off.
Check out the track on Spotify (a theguysfrom.com first!) below:
"My Dear" is a perfect song for Dinachi: the simple, parred down sound (really, just a subtle rolling acoustic guitar) allows her voice, and her storytelling to take front and center, and that really makes this track shine. Not only does Dinachi have a gorgeous voice, but by stripping everything else away, we can really hear the emotional nuances in "My Dear" that could have easily been lost with more production imposed on it.
"My Dear" is a track that feels like I should be sitting in a window somewhere, with tea, in my favourite sweater, and watching the rain speck the street outside--I know autumn is not here yet, but you really do need to consider this track for your upcoming playlists, or for when you just want to take a little bit of peaceful time to yourself.
Dinachi is working on her debut album Parables, and I for one am looking forward to following that project as it progresses.
The August 2017 DSD Playlist is here! This month we are only missing one (1) track, from AL-X the Great, as it is not available...anywhere other than where I put it in here, but it is tradition that we are missing something every month. Also, here is the link to the August '17 Spotify List because....we are on Spotify!
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or serach for TGF on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
