DSD January 8, 2018: "Flirty" - Le Dudes
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music
Flirty - Le Dudes
Today we get back to the regular Daily Song Drop with the dirty, lounge-y track "Flirty" from Le Dudes, which you can check out below:
What I really like about Le Dudes' sound in "Flirty" is that it feels like a song that you would hear in the best little dive bar (you know the ones, where at first glance you might not think much of it, but then in the end you end up going there all the time because it's great). I really like how they have a dirty, near-country alt-sound, but it never falls into being anything other than catchy, lounge-infused indie alternative that would be great as part of an "end of the night" playlist. The vocals-to-fuzzy guitar balance is excellent, but I have to say that it is the percussion that ties "Flirty" all together into something perfect for starting off a new year here on the DSD.
If you're looking for more, chill, lounge-y, country-infused indie alt, be sure to check out Le Dudes' recent EP glorified pleasure, with another favourite of mine being the 1980s/island (saxophone!) track "pop the cherry".
For the first time ever on theguysfrom.com, here is the December Apple Music Playlist, and the December '17 Spotify Playlist! I decided that, rather than making myself crazy with a hybrid list between the two months (and thanks to the fact that I did a feature-full month) I would put this one together, which just means that the January playlist will be a tad shorter than most thanks to the TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 (with the in countdown order Apple Music TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 as Well as the Spotify TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 playlists here)
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
