DSD January 9, 2018: "Bottle of Sunshine" - Coastal Clouds
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!
Bottle of Sunshine - Coastal Clouds
Today on the Daily Song Drop we have a a perfect to chill outside to track (especially if you're lucky enough to be somewhere where it is not freezing at the moment) in "Bottle of Sunshine" from California-based indie singer/songwriter Roberto Rodriguez AKA Coastal Clouds.
Check out the track below:
"Bottle of Sunshine" is one of those songs where, before it was over, I had a smile on my face, and I just felt that little bit more relaxed. The blissed-out, sunny vocals are wonderfully complimented by percussion/guitar (including a quick, perfectly placed electric guitar burst), and together they work to create a song that feels like you should be driving along a sunny highway, or even just sitting outside somewhere, and watching the world go by as your worries melt away. I think what really makes "Bottle of Sunshine" stand out for me is that you really get a retro, not quite-psychedelic (but of that era) tone a few times that just slows everything down in the best way possible.
If you enjoy "Bottle of Sunshine" be sure to check out the rest of Coastal Clouds' EP Nothing to Hide, which is, top to bottom, a really enjoyable, well-produced set of indie chillout music, with another favourite of mine being the fuzzy "Wanna Come Down".
For the first time ever on theguysfrom.com, here is the December Apple Music Playlist, and the December '17 Spotify Playlist! I decided that, rather than making myself crazy with a hybrid list between the two months (and thanks to the fact that I did a feature-full month) I would put this one together, which just means that the January playlist will be a tad shorter than most thanks to the TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 (with the in countdown order Apple Music TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 as Well as the Spotify TGF Top 50 Songs of 2017 playlists here)
If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!
See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!
