Throwback Tracks -- February 8, 2018
David R. Smith
I'm working on this whole "get the list written the sooner than the day before it's due" thing. Some days are better than others. Today, for instance, is the 1st of February. Last week's Throwback Tracks has barely dropped and I'm already working on the new one. I'm pretty happy with that. Kind of takes the pressure off.
The only reason I've already started is because I had a song stuck in my head this morning and thought that the artist hadn't had a lot of love on TBT yet, so I decided to change that. You're welcome, Billy Joel! (As if he needs the publicity.)
The rest, as per usual, will just fall into place as I keep writing this week. But now you know who's kicking us off!
* * *
What's really funny is I had every intention of getting this one done early. I started it last week thinking it would be done in decent time. Well as it turns out, I hit a crap ton of busy and then tech week happened so now I'm under the gun to even get some songs in here. So... it's going to be a quick one today. No real conversation about the songs. Just the songs so you have something to listen to. More in-depth coverage of songs next week. I promise.
The Guys From do not hold the rights to any of these songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new (*cough*) and different retro music, or re-expose them to things they may have forgotten about.
At the top of each section, will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website (if possible...which is totally hit and miss with oldies), so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
An Innocent Man - Billy Joel
I Hate Myself For Loving You - Joan Jett
Shooting Star - Bad Company
Woodstock - Joni Mitchell
Night Moves - Bob Seger
Man those are some great tunes. Every one of them, in my opinion, is terrific. Definitely worth the listen. As I said, I'll get into more music discussion next week. But I'm just home from tech and still need to prep for class tomorrow; which is the same day this drops. So something's gotta give.
To tide yourself over until next week, I suggest you listen to the December 2017 TBT Playlist (or the December 2017 Spotify) as well as the January 2018 TBT Playlist (or the January 2018 Spotify).
