DSD March 15, 2018: "Backbone feat. Nevve" - DROELOE

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music!

Backbone feat. Nevve - DROELOE

I am continuing to try and talk about more electronic tracks on the Daily Song Drop, I feel like today we are talking about a song that has a bit more traction in the online/underground EDM fanbase, but is a little lesser known outside of those circles, despite being excellent.

Check out "Backbone feat. Nevve" from Dutch DJ duo DROELOE below:

(oh and a quick heads up that the lyrics are a bit NSFW)

"Backbone" is really driven by the impeccable balance between Nevve's pitch-perfect, indie pop-style vocals, and the eclectically engaging instrumentals. This is a track that is one that you are going to catch yourself singing along to (or, just get it trapped in your head for days if you're like me) thanks to a great bit of songwriting, but the platform that DROELOE have provided the track, complete with a strange blend of xylophone/bell style flourishes over the beat make "Backbone" an intriguing mix that I find myself listening to on repeat as every time, it just leaves me moving, and wanting a little bit more.

If this is your first introduction to DROELOE, then you are in luck as they have an excellent variety of singles, as well as their EP A Moment in Time for you to check out and enjoy. While you cannot really go wrong with any of their work, I feel like my other favourites are probably "Sunburn" and " Bon Voyage".

The February 2018 DSD Apple Music List and February 2018 DSD Spotify List are available! These ones where admittedly tricky as it is a short month (meaning there are fewer songs for me to build the set with), and we are also missing a couple from the lists: "Coward's Castle" by Monti and "highr" by buuzey. However, I have to say that I do enjoy the playlist this month, and I hope you will check it out (at the links above), and share it with your friends!

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
