EPIPHANY - Pizzo Da LP
I love when artists we have talked about on theguysfrom.com lead me to other great artists to talk about on the Daily Song Drop. Today, thanks again to Tetta, I have come across Nigerian Rapper/Poet Pizzo Da LP and his recent LP FARMHOUSE MEMOIRS, which is a diverse sounding indie hip hop album, which includes really cool tracks like "EPIPHANY" (which you can check out below):
The opening sample hits you with a wall of sound, that Pizzo Da LP builds layer upon layer on top of, to give you this deep soundscape as a backdrop to three, very different, but equally compelling verses (each with their own unique sound). This is largely made possible (and coherent) by not only the strength of each verse, but the dynamic instrumentation, and that deep "get in your core" beat. By the time I hit the sung chorus, I was already completely hooked, and moving along to the track--I am very impressed by the production on "EPIPHANY", and it is one of those hip songs that just seems to offer you something different, and new with each listen.
If you dig "EPIPHANY", be sure to check out the rest of Pizzo Da LP's...LP, FARMHOUSE MEMOIRS, as within, you will find a lot more lush, varied hip hop, some with deep R&B influences (like "I NEVER KNEW") some with a real club bounce "like "STILL ON IT").
The February 2018 DSD Apple Music List and February 2018 DSD Spotify List are available! These ones where admittedly tricky as it is a short month (meaning there are fewer songs for me to build the set with), and we are also missing a couple from the lists: "Coward's Castle" by Monti and "highr" by buuzey.
