DSD December 26, 2017: "Escape" - Lucy Lowe

Shaun Cordingley

Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear. If you enjoy the track, please share it, so we can keep on talking about great new music

Escape - Lucy Lowe

Happy Boxing Day! I hope that you have not been driving yourself crazy by trying to take part in Boxing Day Sales...but on the chance that you have been (or are heading out now), I thought that today it would be a good idea to have a bit of chill, soulful electronic from Australian artist Lucy Lowe.

Check out "Escape" below:

Lucy Lowe is a singer/songwriter who seems to be willing to play with blending different genres together, and in "Escape", she has taken a bit of ambient, downtempo electronic and mixed in her own beautiful soul/folk vocals to create a track that is both relaxing for a busy day, but also perfect for that late night chill session you always need. This is one of those songs that I know that I want to listen to when driving through the city late at night, or watching an evening pass by outside the train. Lowe has an excellent voice, and I think that it fits into downtempo amazingly well as she has an emotive quality that keeps the song grounded, and keeps a low-key (but not lethargic) energy bubbling along the track.

For more awesome examples of Lowe's excellent vocals and songwriting, be sure to check out the lounge-y "Red Car, Cold Heart" or the beautiful folk track "Home", and just sort of lose yourself with a nice hot beverage in a quiet moment.

I know I'm planning on doing just that today--thank you Lucy Lowe.

Here is the November Apple Music Playlist, and the November Spotify Playlist! I'm pretty happy with the flow on this one (and it was, for a change, a bit easier to put together thanks to how the tracks fit together). I also feel like this playlist has just the right amount of variation in it to make it awesome for any and all holiday travelling that you may have coming up...

If you're looking for any of our past playlists, be sure to check out a Friday DSD feature, or search for theguysfrom on either Apple Music or Spotify!

See you tomorrow for our next Daily Song Drop!

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
