DSD April 25, 2017: "Flicker" - Lxandra
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
Flicker - Lxandra
Finnish singer, songwriter, and visual artist Lxandra released her debut single earlier this year called "Flicker", and it's a really quite good. "Flicker" is a slower, thoughtful indie pop song that reflects on time, and the act of letting go.
Check out the official video below:
Lxandra's dark Mezzo-soprano voice, supported by a simple and spare combination of percussion and piano for the bulk of the track is very well layered and produced; nothing gets in the way of Lxandra's lyrics, and radio-ready vocals. It's catchy, without getting annoying, or needing a dramatic shift to a quicker tempo, and serves as a great introduction to a new voice.
"Flicker" is just good indie pop, and I for one am looking forward to seeing what Lxandra continues to release (and rumor is, she is currently in Berlin working on her debut album).
Oh so close to a complete list for the DSD Playlist - Mar 17 , but that's alright...there is over 80 minutes of indie awesomeness available for you right now....not to mention...in case you somehow missed it, here is last months DSD Playlist - Feb 17
Plus, if you're interested, there is also an Apple Music Playlist for the Top 20 Songs of 2016, where I put together my favourite tracks from last year.
Remember, if you want me to expand where I put these playlists beyond Apple Music, you just need to let me know on Twitter, and I'll see what I can do.

The Guys From do not hold the rights to any "Daily Song Drop" songs, it is more our hope to expose our readers to new and different music that we are enjoying, or re-expose them to artists they may have forgotten about.
Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
