DSD July 4, 2017: 'By My Side (ftr. Indica) - Andrew Luce
Shaun Cordingley
Welcome to the "Daily Song Drop": theguysfrom.com's song of the day feature where our resident indie music writer and former DJ Shaun Cordingley features a song every weekday that he feels you need to hear.
By My Side - Andrew Luce featuring Indica
Los Angeles based DJ/Producer Andrew Luce returns today (having originally featured on Tuesday Tunes back in May 2016) with a super chill hip hop track for your American Independence Day.
Check the song out below (oh and heads up: it is a bit NSFW):
Honestly, while I am writing this, it is currently 32 degrees Celsius, and this song has got me eyeing a ginger beer and my deck. The laid back beat, with occasional, perfectly timed synth bumps provide a great backdrop to Indica's vocals. Indica really nails a vibe for this song, and it's hot summer day ready, while at the same time, just having a "good day" feeling roll across your speakers is something we all need from time to time, so that by the part of the track where Luce returns with a heavier bass line, if you're anything like me, "By My Side" will have got it's hooks in you for repeat listens.
As this is Andrew Luce's second appearance on theguysfrom.com, I obviously think highly of what he is putting out, so if you dig this one, be sure to not only check out the first track I shared of his, but delve into his catalog and I am sure you will find a lot more that you dig.
Now if you'll excuse me: ginger beer.
Here's the June 2017 DSD Playlist! We're only missing one track this month (as is tradition)! This months list was actually one of the harder ones for me to put together into something that feels (at least sort of) cohesive...I'm not sure why, but I am happy with the way it turned out in the end!
I've also heard you, and here it is: theguysfrom playlists are now available on Spotify! You can find us by looking for theguysfrom on Spotify, click on this link for the June '17 Spotify List...I will also embed the last months' playlist on every Friday DSD.
Come on back tomorrow for our next Song of the Day!

Above the description of the song will be the song name, followed by the artists' name linked to their website, so you can fall down the rabbit hole, finding and supporting what you dig.
